Learn AI-Assisted Research and Writing with Source Checks
Start with a question, not a generated answer
Write down what you need to learn and what decision the research will support. Ask an AI tool to suggest search terms, subquestions, or an outline. Treat those suggestions as a starting point; they are not evidence.
Keep source material traceable
Collect primary or otherwise reliable sources yourself. Record the title, publisher, date, and relevant passage. Check that a quoted sentence appears in the source and that the source actually supports the claim. Never rely on a citation generated by a model without opening and verifying it.
Draft with boundaries
You can ask a tool to organize supplied, non-sensitive notes or improve readability. Make clear which facts are supplied and which details are unknown. Verify every factual statement, number, quotation, and date before publication. Disclose AI assistance when required by policy or the context.
Protect information
Use public or fictional material for exercises. Do not upload personal, confidential, copyrighted, or client material unless you have permission and have checked the tool's terms and your organization's policy.
